Are You Surviving or Thriving?

Do you ever feel as if...

  • you are just going through the motions and doing what is necessary to just get through the day?

  • life feels heavy, limiting, and controlled by stress and worry?

  • you have forgotten who you truly are or you aren’t achieving your full potential?

  • at the end of each day you feel exhausted yet unfulfilled?

If so, you are likely living life in survival mode. When living in survival mode, we do just what is necessary to continue to live, and we lose touch with the parts of ourselves and our lives that allow us to experience growth, authenticity, peace, connection, and the fullness of life. When we are merely surviving, we we often spend so much time focusing on the obstacles in life that we miss out on the opportunities.

Survival mode can feel like drowning, and it can also quickly become our default mode. When we are used to living life this way, we can easily begin to feel stuck in the comfort of familiarity, and it prevents us from living a life of deeper meaning, value, and purpose. Through online therapy, I will help you break out of the cycles and patterns you feel trapped in so that you can live a life in which you THRIVE!

Thriving is not about the circumstances of our lives. It is about how we choose to respond to the things we cannot control, so that we may be able to experience hope and resilience in the face of great challenges. The reason I became a therapist is because I am passionate about helping people to thrive.

What is Holistic Therapy?

Holistic therapy treats the whole person, aiming to enhance the body-mind-spirit connection and overall well-being by addressing all layers of the self. Trauma, stress, and emotions become stored in the body and can manifest as physical symptoms and holding patterns. While talking about our experiences, thought processes, and emotions can be powerful and healing, I do not believe it is enough to reach the root of the issue. I specialize in EMDR therapy and offer a variety of somatic and experiential techniques to help you restore balance to your nervous system and experience healing and growth on a mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual level.

Mind

Our mind is our most powerful tool, and it can create suffering if we develop unhelpful thought patterns, a harsh inner-critic, and excessive rumination. You don't have to allow these patterns of the mind to control your life. Neuroplacticity shows us that the physical structure of our brains do change and adapt throughout the lifespan, and it is possible to rewire our neural pathways. I will draw from practices such as CBT, DBT, mindfulness, and meditation to help you develop a deeper understanding of your thought processes and emotional experiences, and retrain your mind to thrive in a stressful world.

Body

Trauma, stress, and emotions live within our physical bodies and dysregulate our nervous systems. Words alone are not enough to address this, so I may incorporate a combination of somatic exercises, breath-work, relaxation techniques, grounding practices and trauma-informed yoga into our sessions. It is important to tune into your body's inner wisdom and listen to the signals it sends. These practices will help you become aware of how you hold onto experiences in your body, and enable you to safely notice and regulate physical sensations that arise in response to traumatic or painful memories.

Spirit

I believe that we are spiritual beings. It is ok if you do not share this belief or do not wish for spirituality to be part of our work together. However, with an open mind, connecting to something outside of ourselves can be profoundly healing and insightful. Even just taking in the beauty of nature, connecting meaningfully with others, or cultivating deep levels of self-awareness while practicing meditation can serve as powerful spiritual experiences to help you thrive. I will meet you where you are on your own spiritual path, wherever that may be.
